Shivendra Singh represented Mumbai in the 1998 National Junior Championship and was subsequently hired to represent the Tata Power Hockey Team, a team owned by Tatagorup. In 2002, Shivendra Singh joined Western Railways and was coached by Indian hockey player Gurbukesh Singh. During his time with Western Railway, he also competed in a number of invitational tournaments, national junior championships and regional junior championships. Shivendra then played with the Maratha Warriors in the inaugural Premier Hockey League (PHL) held in Hyderabad and won a bronze medal, and represented the Indian team in the second PHL held in Chandigarh in 2006 . After performing well in the league, he was selected for the Indian national hockey team. Shivendra also participated in the 2007 Men’s Hockey Asia Cup, the seventh edition of the Men’s Hockey Asia Cup. The tournament was held in Chennai and India defeated South Korea in the final to win the gold medal. In 2010, he was selected for the Indian team to participate in the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, where the Indian hockey team won the silver medal. In the same year, Shivendra Singh participated in the 2010 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, where India and South Korea tied for the championship. In 2012, Shivendra was selected by the Hockey India League (HIL) Punjab Warriors team for $27,500. In the same year, he also participated in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
