Strictly’s Giovanni Pernice thanks fans for their support as he addresses Amanda Abbington feud for the first time

GIOVANNI Pernice has addressed his “feud” with former Strictly partner Amanda Abbington for the first time.

The 33-year-old Strictly professional has been the target of a number of accusations after it was revealed that Amanda, 51, had sought legal advice over her experience while taking part last year.

Giovanni has now spoken out and thanked his fans for sticking with him through it all.

Posting on Instagram, Gio wrote: “Just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has sent messages of support over the past week – I really really appreciate it.”

He added: “Thank you thank you GIO.”

Gio’s message to his supporters comes after The Sun revealed actress Amanda asked for footage of her rehearsals with him.

She believes hours of their practice tapes could support her claims about the professional dancer’s alleged behavior towards her.

The Sherlock star left the show in October citing medical reasons – and a source revealed she has since been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.

A friend claimed it took months for Mr Selfridge star Amanda to recover from her time on the dance show.

They said: “Amanda has been left heartbroken and saddened by the whole experience. She needed therapy and was left in shock because of the behavior she was exposed to.

“It took her months to get over what she went through. It was a real shock because at first she was so excited to sign up for the show to learn how to dance, but instead she experienced an ordeal.

“Everyone else was having a fantastic time, but she was really stressed about having to spend eight hours a day with Giovanni. She spent a lot of time crying and couldn’t sleep or eat properly.”
