Wayne’s friend could be seen trying to help him as the cub continued to fall to the ground beside them.

In today’s update, Wayne shared a photo of himself posing with a thumbs up while showing off his injuries.

He wrote on Instagram: “I’ve got a few stitches and a swollen lip. It could have been a lot worse so I’m lucky I wasn’t standing 2 yards away or my head would have hit the wall.

“Obviously the video is very distressing to watch, especially for my family.”

An 18-year-old Welsh student who witnessed the punch said: “It was horrible – he looked like he could have been dead at one point.

“Wayne just fell to the floor and the man and his friends ran away. He was completely unconscious.

“He didn’t say much when he finally came back.

“I stayed to help him and the police showed up, but they weren’t there long and they didn’t do much and they quickly left.”

A shocked witness told The Sun that the two men began arguing after the robber and his friends began harassing Wayne’s friend, who is in her 20s.

As Wayne tried to leave in a taxi, the man – with a group of six friends – approached him and slammed the door.

Moments later, he punched Wayne in the chin, sending him to the ground.

The attacker and his friends quickly fled the scene as Wayne was surrounded by worried onlookers.

He was knocked out at 4.04am – before returning around six minutes later at 4.10am.

Wayne ended up leaving in a taxi about an hour after the impact.

On Tuesday, Wayne posted a video on his Instagram of himself clinking wine glasses with a female friend in the middle of the line.

Following the attack, Wayne broke his silence on Wednesday afternoon by sharing a sweet snap to celebrate son Freddie’s 20th birthday.

Underneath a video of a much younger Freddie playing with a hoola hoop, the dad-of-four wrote: “Happy 20th birthday to my super hot boy and superstar DJ ..keep doing what you’re doing.
