During a potentially disastrous moment, a 12-year-old girl from Easley, South Carolina turned an aborted audition for “America’s Got Talent” into an unforgettable experience for both the judges and the audience.
As Ansley began her rendition of Aretha Franklin’s “Think,” judge Simon Cowell abruptly interrupted her performance, expressing disgust at the background music, which he called “horrible, horrible.”
After a brief pause, Cowell suggested that Ansley continue without any musical accompaniment. Despite being surprised at first, she graciously agreed, even taking a sip of the water from Cowell’s mug, which was jokingly referred to as “magic water”. The audience and judges supported her with thunderous applause.
Buoyed by his newfound confidence, Ansley began singing the song with the skill and poise of a seasoned pro.
Her performance mesmerized all four judges, prompting a unanimous “yes” vote and securing her progression to the next round.
