Biles, who is now the most decorated American female gymnast of all time with 11 Olympic medals, took to social media in the early days of this year’s games to hit back at those who criticized her hair in the heat of Paris.

She posted several Instagram Stories on July 30 on a bus in Paris, holding a fan and writing, “Don’t come after me because of my hair. IT WAS DONE, but the bus has NO air conditioning and it’s like 9,000 degrees.”

She accompanied her first post with a photo of herself smiling with her eyes closed in her blank tank top as she reminded people that it’s never okay to comment on someone’s hair, whether it’s hot or not.

Biles wrote, “I’ll hold your hand when I say this,” before adding, “next time you want to comment on a black girl’s hair, JUST DON’T.”
