Simone Biles Shouts Out Her Therapist in GRWM Video During 'Unreal' Paris Olympics — and Jordan Chiles Cameos!

Simone Biles kept it real as she applied her makeup for the uneven bars finals on August 4.

In a new GRWM video she shared on TikTok on August 6, the 27-year-old gymnast thanked her fans for sticking with her over the years.

“I also just want to say a quick hello to all my fans who have been with me since Rio, all over Tokyo, and are now supporting me during my journey here in Paris. It’s been unreal,” she said, referring to her previous Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2016 and Tokyo in 2020.

Biles continued, “I’ve accomplished more than my wildest dreams. I never thought I’d compete again, because I was so terrified of gymnastics and curling, so there was a lot of trauma, so I had to put in a lot of work, but yelling at my therapist and shout out to therapy.”

During the video, Biles wore what she believed to be light makeup, as she was the “first backup” on bars during the medal competition. As she explained in TikTok, she was the ninth gymnast in the ranking, and only the first eight are fighting to win a medal. If one of them couldn’t compete, she would have been eligible, so she should have been ready to compete. Turns out she didn’t go on, but her face was fresh and ready!

The next day, she will participate in her two final events, the balance beam and floor exercise.

“I’m going to do beam and floor, which, so excited about … I’m never going to do a floor routine again, so yeah, it’s just hitting differently,” she said on TikTok. She won the silver medal in the floor, behind Brazil’s Rebeca Andrada, who won the gold. Biles’ teammate Jordan Chiles (who also made a sweet cameo in TikTok) won bronze.

Biles has been open about her mental health since experiencing the “twisties” in Tokyo during the last Olympics. She was also very open about going to therapy during the Olympics this year and prioritizing herself.

In one episode Creating space with Hod Kotba podcast released on Wednesday, July 31, Biles touched on how focusing on her mental health has had a positive impact on all aspects of her life.

“I feel much freer, I especially go to therapy and do these sessions so that I feel better physically and mentally, and I know that this is an important part of my routine. So if we stay on top of that, it lightens the load a lot,” Biles said.

Part of what helped Biles with her mental health was therapy — and she incorporated it into her daily life. She even found time for it on competition days during the Olympics.

Speaking to reporters, including PEOPLE, during the Paris Olympics on July 30, Biles reflected on how her team took home the gold medal in the women’s team final.

“At the start of the day, I started therapy this morning, so that was super exciting. I told her that I felt calm and ready, and that kind of just happened,” she said. “After I finished the jump, I felt relieved. I said, ‘ugh’, because [there were] no flashbacks or anything.”
