Sister Wives' Janelle and Meri Brown Think Kody Has 'Amnesia' Regarding His Past with Them: 'Be Honest'

It’s no secret that Kody Brown and his three ex-wives have very different opinions about the breakup of their marriages.

In Sunday’s episode on October 27 Sister wivesthe Brown family patriarch, 55, sat with ex-wife Meri Brown, her sister and her brother-in-law after helping his first wife move furniture from her house, which she had given to her relatives. Meri, 53, is preparing to move out of her Flagstaff, Arizona property to return to Utah, where she will work to maintain her local bed and breakfast, Lizzie’s Heritage Inn.

While Kody and Meri discussed their breakup, Kody made a brief reference to how his second wife, Janelle Brown, “isn’t interested in a relationship.” Playing devil’s advocate, Meri’s sister pointed out that Kody brought it up specifically because Meri, Janelle and his third wife, Christine Brown, “left” him, despite him specifically expressing his disinterest in moving on with them.

In the confessional, Kody then said, “I’m guilty of marrying people I wasn’t in love with.”

Janelle separately called out Kody’s claim that he never loved his three ex-wives. “I just think he has amnesia about the past because you just can’t keep up the pretense like that for 20 years,” she said.

“I know what happened. He can say whatever he wants,” Janelle (55) added. “It’s good because I just don’t care anymore.”

On a similar topic, Meri said in her own confessional that “this is Kody’s current theme, which is that he never loved me, Janelle, or Christine.”

“It gets to the point where it gets boring,” she continued. “For God’s sake, Kody, just be honest.”

Much of the Oct. 27 episode focused on Meri and Kody, as the pair had a candid conversation about where things went wrong and where they are today. At one point, the businesswoman, who was friendly throughout the episode and often joked with her ex, said: “I know I put everything I could into it and I would still put into it, but I also know that it’s not something that’s comfortable for him or right for him or good for him, and that’s not fair to either of us.”

Still, Meri believes the process she went through to secure an official divorce through the church was “good,” even though Kody “might say otherwise.” Surprisingly, Kody admitted that he finds his divorce from Meri “sad”, calling it “the end of an era”.

“It’s even sadder when it doesn’t work,” he added.

Kody is now married to his fourth wife, Robyn Brown. Although he admitted that he and his remaining wife are “fighting their own battles” at the moment, Kody still knows that his marriage to Robyn, 45, is better for him compared to what he’s had with his three ex-wives.

As the episode showed Christine looking for a wedding venue with then-boyfriend David Woolley (a moment that took place two months into their relationship), Kody commented on the “rumors” he’d heard about Christine finding her soulmate.

“I’m hurt for her at the idea that she’s going to be stuck with me forever when her soulmate was out there somewhere,” he said.

“I don’t always know what to believe. Eternal marriage… Jesus said not to divorce, but that’s, that’s a big concept,” he said later. “I don’t know what to think about it except that I’m offended by the thought of being stuck with those three women. It literally does. Like I’m offended by the thought that God would cause me or them to suffer.”
