Sister Wives’ Janelle Brown Admits She’s ‘Worried’ About Her Sons’ Mental Health After Fallout with Dad Kody

Janelle Brown is worried about how her son’s estrangement from their father will affect them in the long run.

In the latest episode Sister wivesThe 54-year-old mom shared her concerns about how sons Gabe, 21, and Garrison, 24, are handling their strained relationship with Kody Brown.

“Me and Garrison are at odds with my dad, because when we expressed our displeasure with how things are going with COVID, I hit a wall,” Gabriel said at the beginning of Sunday’s episode. “And there was no line of dialogue. I think that’s what really drove the wedge between us.”

In a later confession, Janelle said, “I was worried about my boys’ mental health. Gabriel feels everything very, very deeply. But he’s also a kid who doesn’t say anything.”

Of Garrison, she added that he “just seems angrier or sadder, like he’s not as cheerful as he used to be.”

Christine Brown weighed in on the changed family dynamic, noting, “My kids are more used to Kody not being in their lives. He just wasn’t around as much.”

“But he was around Janelle’s kids,” the 51-year-old continued. “It’s just a lot more devastating for them than it was for my kids.”

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Kody admitted that he feels “powerless” when it comes to facing his older children and admitted that their relationship has become strained.

“Your relationship with your 10-year-old, your five-year-old, or your babies is very different than the relationship you have with a 15-year-old, a 20-year-old, a 25-year-old, and a 30-year-old. one year old. It’s very different,” he said earlier. “I had no power in my household to say, ‘These are the rules.'”

Feeling “powerless” as a father figure, Kody admitted that his family had begun to “fall apart” and was unable to negotiate their differences. And when “one person” has a different “perspective,” the reality star says it could end up offending the other.

“There were a lot of things… very difficult problems that we had to deal with. At the time, there were no good answers,” he explained.

“But in the end, it was almost like a stain,” he continued. “I don’t know what happened. All that’s left now is to move forward. Let’s move forward and hope for the healing of these relations. Now that’s really a story, let’s move on. This is a story about forgiveness. Forgiveness and finding hope and joy after relationships end in the way that is the norm.”

The TV personality said he was learning to “find a new normal” with his ex-wives and “all my kids”.
