Sister Wives’ Kody Recalls Janelle’s ‘Betrayal’ of Going on Vacation with Christine When He Had COVID

Kody Brown talks about the time he felt betrayed by his ex-wives Christina and Janelle.

During TLC Sister wives: one on one special, the family patriarch sat down with host Sukanya “Suki” Krishnan to unpack harrowing memories of his exes’ travels while he was ill.

During the special, Kody tells Krishnan, “Right before Christmas, we were talking about Thanksgiving, and I just had COVID. Janelle was on vacation with Christine when I got COVID. And it was pretty dark. It felt like such a betrayal.”

Viewers have watched the trio’s complicated relationship unfold over the past 18 seasons of TLC Sister wiveswhich shares an inside look at the Brown family as they navigate polygamous marriages and run blended households.

Krishnan explains that the reason Kody felt betrayed was because Christine and Janelle were together, to which he replies, “Yeah, when I was sick.”

Janelle and Christine then sit down with Krishnan to explain their side of the story.

“So I was on vacation,” Janelle says. “Kody called me at the hotel and said, ‘I’m really sick,’ and I was about to call Christine and say we have to go home. So I called the doctor because [Kody] he was driving me crazy. He really scared me.”

She adds that although she thought about rushing home, the doctor told her not to because “you can’t come home anyway. There is nothing you can do.”

Christine and Janelle have remained close since breaking up with Kody.

Meanwhile, Christine recalls how Kody came up to Janelle while they were on vacation.

“There we are, having a good time together, and he says, ‘You have to come home to get me some things,'” she says. She also revealed the advice she gave Janelle after telling her she shouldn’t abandon their trip and rush back to Kody.

“All you’re going to do is go to the store and buy it for him and then take it to his house and leave it on the doorstep,” she told her ex-sister wife at the time. “You will never see him. You can’t take care of him, and when you had COVID, did he take care of you? Not.”

Christina and Kody’s relationship has seen some rocky moments since they announced in November 2021 that they were separating after being “spiritually married” for 25 years. She has since found love again and officially tied the knot with her now-husband David Woolley in a grand ceremony in Utah in October.

Despite her shocking split from Kody, Christine remained close with Janelle, who confirmed her split from the family patriarch a year after Christine in December 2022. Days after news of Kody and Janelle’s split, PEOPLE confirmed that Kody’s 32-year marriage is he was also done with his first wife Meri.

Meri was the only wife who was legally married to Kody until 2014 when he divorced her to marry his current wife Robyn. Even though Robyn is Kody’s only wife left, she still has doubts about their relationship and where it’s going. Along with his ex and current wife, Kody is the father of a total of 18 children.
