Sisters Kristen and Kathryn Groom always knew they wanted to run a job together. When they landed on the idea of overnight stays with breakfast, Kristen, 35, tells people, it was the first job that their parents actually thought was a “good idea.”
As the sisters and owners of Welland, Ontario’s The Rose Manor, they were shared in a Tictok video, which were more than 5.5 million times, they decided to jump and buy overnight stay and breakfast in May 2022. In the video they compared the choice choice with choice of choice Gilmore Girls – in which Lorelai Gilmore (plays Lauren Graham) and Sookie St. James (acting Melissa McCarthy) and manages Inn Dragonfly.
“We visited the house after a giant snowstorm, so we didn’t know what we worked with, but we decided to take the risk and live it Gilmore Girls Life, “they wrote in the video, through photos of the inn. No hospitality, but they were encouraged to start a job in the city, which has a population of just over 55,000.
In the video, they documented that they were reviewing frugal stores and the market on Facebook to find items that would provide eight bedrooms and six bathrooms. The sisters chose the rose as a logo, and soon their friends and family also searched their cellars for the items they would give them. “Anything with the rose on it, we inherit us in some or other ways,” says Kristen.

Rose Manor B&B
They took over DIY projects to put B&B into shape, transformed out of property and even launched a line of Welland’s goods. “I think decorating was probably one of our favorite parts of this whole process. Just converting space into what we want,” says Kathryn, 27.
In addition to hosting passengers after they opened up B&B, they also started hosting weddings – something Lorelai did and Gilmore Girls. And, true Gilmore Girls By chance, a nearby cafe is run by a man named Luke. Sisters say there are “so little details” about the night and breakfast that people in their tictok account connected Gilmore Girlsincluding many that they did not even catch.
The sister’s dad grew up in Welland, so it was “really special” to build his job there, Kathryn says. “It’s really nice to be in this community and have a small corner.” Inn, a Tudor style house built in 1906, has a view of Welland Canal, which holds concerts on a floating stage every summer, and are only 20 minutes away from Niagar Falls. “It was magical property,” Kathryn says.

As for Tictoka, Kristen says she initially thought that the social media application was not right for them. But at the beginning of 2024, she decided to publish regularly and soon their account became viral for the first time.
Tictok brought them younger guests, including a lot of solo women, but brought even more pairs for micro wedding and elopement; A successful post can lead to three or four wedding inquiries that day.
When they opened Rose Castle, Kristen worked as a Full-time HR director, and Kathryn finished her master’s degree. Both are now focusing on full -time work and live in two bedrooms.
“We pretty much realized how well we do together as a team, and that felt very natural,” Kathryn says about working with her sister. “I wouldn’t say easy, but it feels easy. What I don’t like to do, Kristen loves to work and vice versa.” Their father is their master – and he built a small place for weddings – and their mom loves to come to work in the garden.
The inn was once the dream of the sisters, but now, Kathryn says, “That’s a really family thing.”
