Six Flags Employee Dies After ‘Tragic Automobile Accident’ at Georgia Park

A Six Flags Over Georgia employee died from injuries sustained in a “tragic automobile accident” Sunday night, authorities said, according to multiple media outlets.

Cobb County police officials said Andrea Crook, 43, fell out of the back of a 2004 Ford Econoline cargo van and hit her head on the pavement of the park’s employee-only access road, Atlanta news station WSB-TV reported.

Both the park and local first responders treated Crook at the scene before she was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she later died of “severe, life-threatening” head injuries, officials said, according to the media release.

WSB-TV reported that Crook was one of several employees, including two minors, who were riding in the back of a cargo van driven by Asia Hendricks, 27.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitutionpolice’s initial investigation revealed that Crook fell out of the back door of the vehicle and then hit her head on the pavement when the vehicle was traveling through a left-hand hill on Harbor Way.

“It’s a cargo van, so there are no seats in there. At some point, while maneuvering in the park, one of the passengers was ejected from the van and suffered a serious head injury,” said Cobb County Police Sgt. Wayne Delk, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that authorities have not said exactly how Crook fell or that anyone involved has been charged.

However, Fox 5 Atlanta reported that the driver may or may not face charges. “Investigators are looking at several different factors to determine what charges would be appropriate, but yes, charges are definitely a possibility,” Delk said.

A Six Flags employee who chose to remain anonymous explained to Fox 5 Atlanta that those working at Fright Fest were often shuttled around the park in cars to keep up appearances.

“The actors have always been transported in vans because they don’t want the make-up actors going through different parts of the park, so they go behind the scenes,” an employee told the news outlet.

“I know she was truly loved by everyone who spent time with her. She really had such a team behind her at all times and brought so much joy to so many different people. I just really hope everyone is sending good energy to Andrea’s family,” the employee said about Crook.

“Our hearts and our thoughts go out to the employee’s family as well as all those affected by this tragic car accident; we are heartbroken,” Six Flags Over Georgia Park President Dave Zellner said in a statement, according to Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “Emergency assistance is being provided to those affected by the accident.”
