A “SMILING” and “giggling” baby has tragically died after swallowing a 10p coin and reportedly turning blue during an ambulance for her brother.
A 14-month-old died in hospital after a nurse raised the alarm when she saw the baby was blue and cold.

His dad, David Matthews, brought the toddler to the emergency room because his partner’s son had cut his leg on some glass.
The 42-year-old described how Hayden was “laughing and giggling” on the car ride to the hospital.
He also explained how he believed the child had fallen asleep during the hour-long journey.
David took Hayden to the reception area of the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro where the tragedy happened.
The innocent little boy died after 30 minutes of CPR failed to save him.
X-rays and an autopsy spotted a 10-pence coin in his esophagus – the tube that connects the throat to the stomach.
Senior Coroner for Cornwall, Andrew Cox, said it was not known how long the coin had been there.
He also said there was no collapse on the blackened coin that could lead to infection and even sepsis.
An inquest in Truro heard the swallowed coin could not be directly linked to the boy’s death.
The police investigation revealed no suspicious circumstances, and the cause of death could not be determined.

David Matthews, who now lives in Wales, looked after Hayden in the weeks before he died in Redruth after divorcing his mother.
In the weeks before he died, the toddler had a cough and was treated with steroids and an inhaler, but was otherwise fine.
There were no other marks or injuries on Hayden and this is not a case of neglect.
Mr Cox recorded an open conclusion and said it was an unusual case where Hayden was only taken to hospital because another child had been injured in an unrelated incident.
