Snoop Dogg Thanks 'Nephews' Drake and Kendrick Lamar for 'Raising the Bar' with Their Rap Beef

The latest star to get involved in Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s headline-grabbing feud is none other than Snoop Dogg, and — spoiler alert — his advice was not to let it out as if it were hot.

The rap stars’ months-long feud has caught the attention of everyone from Tom Hanks to Uma Thurman, who proposed to Drake Kill Bill costume. Now, the rap veteran, 52, is offering his two cents.

Talking to Party tonight of the months-long rap beef (which also included the likes of J. Cole, Future, Metro Boomin and Rick Ross), Snoop shouted out, not criticized, the rappers — and called them his “nephews.”

“Well, the only thing I want to say about that whole scenario is that I want to commend both of them for raising the bar as far as lyrics, as far as songwriting and writing,” the rapper told the outlet, “because the writing is raised from conflict or whatever called, whatever they’ve been through.”

“Those are my nephews,” he added. “I’m not in the middle of it. I support both of them and it’s a personal matter, not mine.”

The “Gin and Juice” artist is no stranger to rap beef, also saying that their public feud — which included everything from lyrics to Instagram name-calling — advanced the rap game as a whole.

“In terms of what they did for the industry and the rap game, they made you rap again,” he said ET. “You can’t mumble and cheat your way to a song anymore, my friend.”

Contrary to his new comments, Snoop was already “in the middle” of Drake and Lamar’s feud before his own ET interview — although it was not necessarily by choice.

While Drake, 37, waited for Lamar, 36, to respond to his diss track “Push Ups,” which was leaked in April, he released another track, “Taylor Made Freestyle,” aimed at the “Be Alright” rapper, featuring controversially featured AI verses from Snoop as well as the late Tupac Shakur (Also featured Taylor Swift’s name.)

In his AI verse, the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper slams Lamar before Drake hits back with, “Yeah, uncle, that’s true.”

Sharing the confused reaction to the unexpected feature back in April, Snoop posted a video on Instagram. In the clip, which he captioned, “🤷🏾‍♂️🎤👀🤣⏰ 🤖,” the rapper slowly crept into the frame and said, “What did they do? When? How? Are you sure?”

After a loud sigh, Snoop continued, “I wish everybody a good night and everybody… Why is everybody calling me on the phone and blowing me up? What the f—? What happened? What is happening?”

“I’m going back to bed,” he finished. “Good night.”
