Snoop Dogg’s daughter Cori Broadus has revealed that she suffered a stroke.

On Thursday, the 24-year-old — who is the daughter of the rapper, 49, and wife Shanté — posted a photo on her Instagram Story from the hospital following the health scare.

“I had a severe stroke and I started to cry when they told me,” she wrote. “Like I’m only 24, what have I done in the past to deserve all this.”

Although Broadus did not provide any details about what led to her stroke or recovery, the singer has had a difficult health journey for years after being diagnosed with lupus at the age of 6.

Lupus is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system mistakes healthy tissues for foreign invaders and attacks them instead of targeting bad bacteria and viruses. It causes inflammation that can affect the joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs. There is currently no cure for the disease.

Because lupus affects multiple organs in the body, it can increase the risk of stroke.

In September 2023, Broadus spoke to PEOPLE about her battle with lupus and how her health has been since making lifestyle changes.

“I was good, better than ever,” she said, revealing that she had gone “all natural” and had recently taken a holistic approach to her health after a difficult journey that included a suicide attempt in 2021.

Snoop Dogg’s Daughter Cori Goes ‘All Natural’ to Help Lupus Symptoms: ‘Better Than I’ve Ever Been’ (Exclusive)

“I stopped taking all my medications about five months ago,” Broadus said. “I just do everything natural, all kinds of herbs, sea mosses, teas. I started exercising, drinking a lot of water. Now I think my body is saying, OK, this is a new program and she’s getting used to it.”

At the time, Broadus admitted that she made the transition because she had been on medication all her life that would make her “feel like I was going crazy.”

“I’ve been on medication since I was 6 years old, I’ve been dependent on it my whole life. So I wanted better for myself,” she said. “I wanted to change because it just got too much. I am only 24 years old, I take 10 to 12 pills every day. So I kind of just went to cold Turkey.”

Broadus told PEOPLE that she feels the lifestyle changes and hard work are paying off.

“My body doesn’t hurt,” she explains. “When you have lupus, that’s one of the number one things. Your joints hurt, you have arthritis. And now I’m like, hell, I’m not complaining about my knees, my feet, my hands, my back.”

Despite the progress, Broadus said she knows there are still lifestyle changes that could benefit her health.

“It’s a continuous learning process because there’s so much more I could be doing,” she explained, noting she still struggles with “horrible food” and “not getting enough rest.”

“If I can do a whole 360-degree change and just get better, I think I’d be so good,” she said. “But I tell people all the time it’s a day-by-day process. Things will take time. Nothing will happen overnight.”
