Subterranean submarines that move on their feet have met their match.
The sandwich chain has announced three new, extra-long menu items: Cinnabon footlong churros, Auntie Anne’s pretzels and footlong cookies. The snacks, which have been available since January 22, are in an entirely new fast-casual category called Subway Sidekicks — but they deserve the attention of a main character.
12-in. the chocolate chip cookie ($5) has the same classic flavor of the beloved cookies that Subway has been selling for years (previously in the typical circular and single-sized varieties).

Some fans got to try the leggy cookies when the treat hit select stores for National Cookie Day 2022 and 2023, but this is the first time it will be available to customers nationwide. And don’t be afraid, the treat without a leg does not replace regular cookies, they will remain on the menu.
The Cinnabon Churro ($2) is served warm with Cinnabon’s cinnamon-sugar topping.

The only savory Sidekick — Auntie Anne’s soft pretzel ($3) — is buttery and salty, like the restaurant chain’s favorite, and can be dipped in Subway’s honey mustard.
PEOPLE tasted the line of large bites for the first time and certainly left with a full stomach. Our testers delved into each Sidekick, and they all smelled delicious and similar to mall restaurants (in the best way). But man oh man, a cookie, churro or pretzel makes a great snack!

The churro had a nice crunch and contained plenty of cinnamon sugar, but it didn’t scream Cinnabon in the same way that the pretzel at Auntie Anne’s did. The chunky chunks of pretzel salt were nicely balanced with the honey mustard sauce. We think Subway’s Roasted Garlic Aioli or Pepper Ranch would also go well with the pretzels.
McDonald’s is bringing back the Double Big Mac which has a whopping 4 patties
The cookie was our favorite, just as gooey and decadent as Subway’s cookies have always been. The testers thought it would be wise to bring the cookie home, cover it with ice cream and serve it at dinner as a large ice cream cone. Our only gripe was that it doesn’t come in all the other non-long cookie flavors, like white macadamia or double chocolate.
Subway phased out pre-sliced meat in 2023.
Subway
While Subway is kicking off 2024 with these big menu additions, 2023 was also a big year for the fast food restaurant.
The sandwich shop confirmed to PEOPLE that it planned to do away with pre-sliced meat last February. Over the summer, the company installed deli slicers at 20,000 locations, costing the brand a whopping $80 million. (The meat is pre-delivered and served pre-sliced.) The automatic machines are reportedly “gifted” to franchise restaurants in the US
