Sooraj Thelakkad is an Indian actor, comedian and impersonation artist known for his work in the Malayalam film and television industry. He suffers from a medical condition called dwarfism.

Sooraj Thelakkad was born on Monday, September 4, 1995 in Perintalmanna, Kerala (26 years old; as of 2021). His zodiac sign is Virgo. He completed his primary education from Government LP School, Thelakkad and later from GHS Vengoor. He graduated from St. Mary’s College, Puttanam Hardy with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Inspired by his father, who loved to imitate, Sooraj first started imitating when he was in fifth grade at the age of 10. Later, he did M.Com. In 2011-12, he participated in the 52nd State School Children’s Festival in Thrissur for the first time. He obtained the A-level in the Kerala School Kalolsavam imitation in 2012 and the second A-level in 2013.

He began his career as an Impressionist and Mimetic artist. In 2015, he made his acting debut in the Malayalam film Charlie, directed by Martin Prakat. In 2017, he made guest appearances in Cappuccino, Udaharanam Sujatha and Vimaanam. He rose to fame for playing the protagonist of a robot in the film Android Kunjappan Version 5.25 (2019), directed by Ratheesh Poduval.
Initially, it was thought that the film team used real robots for filming. Sooraj hid the fact that he was a robot for at least 45 days. After Android Kunjappan’s real identity was revealed, social media was flooded with posts praising Sooraj. Many celebrities, including Guinness Pakru, took to Facebook to congratulate him. Sooraj revealed in an interview that it took him an hour every day to dress up like Android Kunjapan, and that a chair was specially prepared on the set for him to relax in the robot costume. He added,
During the filming, I was very tired because the robot’s suit was unbearably hot. Within four days, I developed a cough and cold from sweating. My co-star Suraj told me that it would be better to shave off my hair. I wasn’t ready at first, but in the end I decided to shave Kunjapan’s head,”
Sooraj has also acted in films like “Oru Adaar Love” (2019), “Ambili” (2019), “Dhamaka” (2020).
television
His breakthrough in television came with Cinema Chirima, a comedy show that aired on Mazhavil Manorama. In 2012, he started acting on television as a supporting character in the first season of Bhima Jewels Comedy Festival, which was aired on Mazhavil Manorama. He starred in the Comedy Super Night series from 2015 to 2018. He has appeared as a comedian in Comedy Nights with Suraj (2019), Funny Nights with Pearle Maaney (2020) and Comedy Nights Comedy Stars Season 2 (2014) and other shows.
He entered Bigg Boss (Malayalam Season 4) as a contestant in 2022.

- Sooraj loves driving cars and has always dreamed of getting a driving license; however, he found that his height was an obstacle in getting a four-wheeler driving license. He said in an interview,
It was my dream to get a four-wheeler license from the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD). “
He added,
I like driving. However, my height was a hindrance. I searched various options and found the solution, ‘the solution’ was a car with modified seats. “
He obtained his license from the Perinthalmanna Regional Transport Office on September 17. Perinthalmanna Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) Binoy Varghese clarified that there is a provision to provide driving licenses to people who are not tall and use “modified vehicles”. He revealed in an interview that after getting his driver’s license, he went on a road trip. He said,
After getting my driving license, I went on a private trip to Wayanad. This is inevitable. I will be planning more leisure travel once the coronavirus threat subsides. “

- According to some media reports, doctors said both Sooraj and his sister had developmental delays due to a genetic problem. His father and mother were reportedly distant relatives. He said in an interview,
My sister and I are like this. This is a growth hormone issue. The father and mother are related by blood. Theirs was not a romantic marriage, but an arranged marriage. One day, my father called me and told me, you will not grow up anymore, you will rise in life through art or other abilities. Our friends are all taller than us. My father saw all this and understood all this before he said these words. “
- Sooraj built a house according to his height. His former house, which belonged to his father, was now in disrepair. The new house was built specifically for Sooraj and his sister, with shelves, cupboards, switches and chairs set up according to their heights for their convenience. The house was completed at a cost of Rs 1.7 million.
