Katie Austin shares how she met her partner!
On Monday, Sports illustrated swimsuit the model, 30, posted a video on Instagram documenting her and fiancé Lane Armstrong’s journey to love after they first connected on dating app The League.
According to The League, the couple joined the app — a dating platform for career-minded singles — just days apart in September 2020. Armstrong had 13 other matches before meeting Austin, while the fitness influencer had 60 matches.
The two began by exchanging a few messages before exchanging phone numbers. They started dating, and by April 2023 they were engaged.
This couple is the first publicly released success story of The League celebrity couple. According to The New York Times dating database, The League is 1082 times more efficient than the leading dating app.
“Katie and Lane are the epitome of a league power couple. In an Instagram video featuring a montage of highlights from her relationship with Armstrong, Austin opened up about why her fiancé is perfect for her. “I love that we have the same values, like life, the big picture and what we see in our future,” she said.

Armstrong also shared what he admires about Austin, who is the daughter of celebrity fitness instructor Denise Austin. “You work so hard in everything you do. I see it every day, and your work ethic and drive makes me want to work hard myself,” he said.
Katie captioned the video: “Crazy to think I’m marrying the love of my life in 3 months thanks to @theleague.”

Katie then announced the news of their engagement on Instagram, sharing a series of photos from Armstrong’s proposal on the beach at sunset. “YES YES YES YES X 10000 MILLION YES!!!!! I can’t wait to be your WIFE ❤️❤️❤️,” she captioned the post.
In additional posts on her Instagram Story, she shared details of how her fiance pulled off the big surprise. The couple went to Laguna Beach, California, to visit Armstrong’s high school friend.

However, Armstrong told Katie that his friend’s flight had been delayed and suggested they go for a walk. “A few minutes later we were engaged 😭😭😭,” she captioned a photo of her oval-shaped diamond ring.
To set the scene for a romantic proposal, Armstrong placed a picnic blanket on the sand and decorated it with 24 dozen white roses. He also brought two bottles of rosé from “our 2 favorite trips we’ve ever been on,” Katie explained in another photo caption.
Armstrong later surprised Katie with dinner at Nobu with her family and close friends to celebrate.
In a post on her Instagram profile after the engagement, she described it as “the happiest weekend of my life.”
“We feel so loved and celebrated. I can’t believe how much effort my FIANCE put into this weekend, planning all my favorite things,” she wrote in the caption.
“From friends flying in, buying me all kinds of white outfits, decorating the house — I couldn’t be happier. I’ll probably never get over it. We’re so excited for this next chapter in our lives!!!! Thank you to everyone who reached out and sent sweet messages, we love you❤️❤️.”
