Spurs Star Victor Wembanyama to Miss the Rest of NBA Season After Blood Clot Discovered

The San Antonio Spurs star is expected to miss Victor Wembanyama the rest of the NBA 2024-2025 NBA season due to blood clots, Tim announced on Thursday, February 20th.

Wembanyama, 21, was diagnosed with deep venous thrombosis in the right shoulder, the Spurs said. He received the diagnosis after returning to San Antonio after the NBA All-Star match in San Francisco.

The Spurs source told ESPN that the “optimistic” Wembanyama “would” do a complete recovery “before starting the 2025-2026 season.

Wembanyama won the NBA Rookie of the Year after last season, and this year he made the first All-Star game this year. He played in 46 games this season, with an average of 24.3 points, 11 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.8 blocks. He was considered a favorite for the Prize for Defense Player of the Year award, but he would be acceptable for this and other awards at the end of the year because he will not fill the minimum of 65 games.
