Squid Game: The Challenge Favorite Says Competitors Used Condoms as Chapstick During Filming

Squid Game: The Challenge contestants resorted to drastic tactics to keep their lips moist.

According to 301 player Trey Plutnicki, the contestants didn’t get a wand in the toiletry bag handed out at the start of filming, and some were so desperate that they turned to condoms for some lube.

“I’ll confirm this: Yes, it’s 100 percent real,” Plutnicki told Entertainment Weekly.

However, he himself denied using the tactic, saying: “Do you think I did it? Do I look like the person who did it? No, hell no. That’s so stupid.”

Plutnicki, who was featured on the show with his mother, LeAnn Wilcox Plutnicki, said he instead experimented with using “lotions” and “conditioners” to clean his lips. “Those were the first two attempts,” he noted.

He added: “And after I tried them and they didn’t work, I said, ‘Well, that’s all our options, because obviously we’re not going to use condoms’.”

However, he said that was not a consideration for many other contestants who ended up flocking to the item to get some relief on their lips.

“In a day, maybe a day and a half, all the condoms were gone,” he explained. “It was absurd. And it still hasn’t worked!”

He recalled that no matter how many times the contestants “tried” it didn’t work, and their lips were still dry. “And I said, ‘Obviously!’ added Plutnicki. “So it’s 100 percent true.”

The reality show contestant said the producers eventually relented and gave them individual lip balm tins with their contestants’ numbers on them – a souvenir he didn’t walk away with after giving it away before the challenge.

“I gave my wand to someone at the last minute because I happened to have it in my pocket during Bridge of Glass [challenge]”, Plutnicki explained. “And I said: ‘Could you please give me this back?’ It has my number on it.’ And they said, ‘I won’t see you again unless you cross that bridge.’ I said, ‘Great. killer. Great encouragement.'”
