Sreelakshmi Sreekumar was born on May 11, 1995 in Taluk, Thiruvananthapuram, India, in the home of veteran Malayalam actor Jagathy Sreekumar. Her father’s name ‘Sreelakshmi Jagathy’ is also popular and her family and friends also call her ‘Lakshmi’.

She was educated at Christ Nagar High School, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala and is now a graduate. She has been interested in classical dance since she was a child and has won many awards in classical dance competitions. Her father never wanted Sreelakshmi to become an actor, he always wanted her to become an IAS officer, so she prepared to appear for the IAS exam.
