When the offer came, all I could say was wow! Acting in a film with Mammootty was the highest point of my career. Runjith, the director of the film, told me that I would play a country girl with no make-up and no charm. I asked, why me. I was that girl on TV screaming in English and wearing weird clothes! Regis replied: “Because you have a very Dravidian face”. I gave everything to this movie. When I had to cry, I cried. Contains no glycerin. ”

I got into VJing at the age of 18, when SS Music was considered the MTV of Chennai. I was one of the first VJs recruited by the channel. I never had a traditional look or sound. But I was chosen. It was a very interesting experience and unlike today’s main and formal shows, I considered the studio my home and I was always being myself when interacting with the audience. This made me very popular among the audience, especially young people.

I remember when I was a kid, Ravi Shastri and Sandip Patil came home and I heard them telling my dad that I had a great voice. It’s not that I always talk. I am also a good listener and sometimes I just want to be quiet but my family gets restless and they always want some noise around them. I think my voice is infectious.
