Starbucks Unveils Holiday Cup Designs for 2024: 'Capture the Merriment Season'

Starbucks is ready to kick off the holidays!

In a press release shared with PEOPLE on Saturday, Nov. 2, the coffee chain unveiled its new design for this season’s holiday mugs.

“For many customers, the return of Starbucks holiday cups signals the start of the season,” the statement said. They “capture the cheer of the season,” allowing customers to “enjoy them with their favorite holiday beverages,” the company adds.

Covered in swirling red, white and green designs, the mugs set the tone for the anticipated merry season. One features a unique arrangement of circles behind the famous Starbucks logo, while the other features festive polka dots. A third design shows different shades of green and red, and a fourth shows oversized peppermint wrappers, both signaling the holidays.

Starbucks will no longer charge for dairy-free milk — and holiday drinks are coming soon

The design was announced after Starbucks announced this week that holiday drinks are on the way. The menu is due to be released on November 7, the same day the company will stop charging extra to customize drinks with non-dairy milk.

The modern mug designs come as Starbucks prepares to bring back another popular experience: handwriting customers’ names on their drinks.

Niccol told CNBC that it was a big undertaking, especially considering the amount of supplies needed.

“The number I heard was something like 200,000 Sharpies that we have to find,” he said. “Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as just going to Staples and picking up Sharpies.”

The chain is also set to bring back the self-serve ice cream and pastry shops that many stores stopped offering during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Starbucks will also retire Oleato olive oil drinks to “simplify our overly complex menu,” this month, the company said.
