Sterling K. Brown feels his love This is us costars after being nominated for an Oscar.

The 47-year-old actor took to Instagram to express his gratitude for receiving a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his role in American fiction as Jeffrey Wright’s younger brother, Clifford “Cliff” Ellison, who struggles to come to terms with his sexuality. The drama sees Wright’s novelist Thelonious “Monk” Ellison become entangled in a web of lies after ironically writing a book under a pseudonym that goes against his values, but is an immediate success.

“I’m nominated for an Oscar today. ☺️ To God be the glory 🙏🏿,” he captioned the six-minute video, in which he detailed how he found out about his nod after seeing that he had 126 congratulatory text messages on his phone.

Brown’s ex This is us costars celebrated the news of his nomination in the comments section of the post.

“Nobody deserves SKB anymore,” shared Mandy Moore, who played Brown’s adoptive mother on the hit NBC series, while his adoptive sister Chrissy Metz added, “Come on!!!!!🎉❤️🙏🎉❤️🙏”

Brown’s ex-TV wife Susan Kelechi Watson also sent congratulations to the actor, writing: “Yes SKKKK!!! I’m one of those 120 messages lol”

This is us aired on NBC from September 2016 to May 2022. The family drama focused on the lives of siblings Kevin (Justin Hartley), Kate (Metz) and Randall (Brown) and their parents Rebecca (Moore) and Jack (Milo Ventimiglia ). The series used multiple timelines, showing stories that took place in the present, as well as flashbacks to the siblings’ childhoods and flashbacks to their later years.

The NBC drama earned a lot of praise during its run. He received 39 Emmy nominations, of which he won four. In addition, he also received the Television Academy Honors Award in 2017.

Moore, 39, opened up to PEOPLE in July about her relationship with the cast, noting that they’re still very close to this day — so much so that they even consider each other “family.”

“The cast is absolutely in touch,” she said at the time. “A bunch of us just had dinner a few weeks ago … they’ll be my family forever. I love them very much.”

Moore noted that the cast still has a group chat that “always goes on.” She also called Huertas, 54, and Sullivan, 43 — who played Miguel Rivas and Toby Damon — the funniest members of the active chat.

“Jon Huertas and Chris Sullivan are definitely two of the funniest people I’ve ever met,” Moore said. “So they’re the ones who must have one-liners or gifs all the time.”

“I miss them. I miss my job… it’s such an important chapter of my life that, I don’t know, maybe someday it will come true again in some form,” she added.
