Steve Fletcher’s Repair Shop
Steve Fletcher is the expert on BBC One’s prestigious restoration show The Repair Shop. Along with his sister Suzie Fletcher, The Repair Shop presenter Jay Blades, Will Kirk, Dominic Chine, Brenton West and Kirsten Ramsay, made their debut on the show in 2017. He explained to the BBC how Steve ended up in The Repair Shop as follows:
“In 2016, a company I had never heard of sent me an email asking if I would be interested in taking part in a whole new show. I was about to delete it because I don’t trust anything I find on the internet, but my partner Mel stopped me saying everything was fine.
“I answered, and shortly after, Shane called me to tell me about the show. So I decided to participate.
Initially I worked for two weeks, but after proving that I could fix most of the small mechanical failures, I was asked to work longer and eventually joined the core team.
When asked what he enjoys most about working at the Body Shop, Steve responded, “There are so many great things about working at the Body Shop. We all get along incredibly well and really enjoy working together. We never know exactly what is coming or how challenging the repair challenge may be.
“I got a lot of knowledge from other specialists who are always happy to share it with me.
The best part of working in the service is watching people’s reactions to modified items, which range from delight to genuine and intense emotions.
