Widow Annabel, 57, lost her husband Mel Coleman to cancer in May after 36 years of marriage.

Only 16 weeks passed from his diagnosis to his death.

In an emotional interview with the Daily Mail, Annabel says an NHS nurse laughed and mocked her son when he asked if he had months to live.

“Ever since then I’ve wondered if she’s a psycho,” Annabel sobbed.

“I felt that way because she seemed to take pleasure in telling Mel that he was dying.

“She started talking about palliative care and Charlie [our son] he asked her: ‘What does that mean? Are there months, weeks?’

“She said, ‘Ha!’ Almost laughing, mocking our son. ‘No – hours.’ Mel heard it, everything. It was horrible.”

The nurse then said if Mel had a heart attack they would not resuscitate him.

Despite the couple’s objections, Annabel claims to have doubled in size.

“It was like she was enjoying herself,” she said.

“It haunts me. So many nights I couldn’t sleep, remembering the tone of her voice. It was cruel.”

Mel was Annabel’s first serious boyfriend. They married in 1992 and have three children – Amber, Charlie and Lily, who are all in their 20s.
