Student, 25, shocked when pals congratulate her on new baby after Insta snap – can you see what’s really happening?

STUDENT Rebecca McGonigle was showered with congratulatory messages after taking a selfie that looked like she was holding a baby.

Friends asked the 25-year-old if the newborn had a name, while shocked boyfriend Neil Pitman, 31, said: “What the fuck.”

Rebecca — who is studying for a PhD in chemistry in Glasgow — said she found it funny when she received the well-wishers’ comments.

She took a selfie sitting in her room on April 14 with her legs pulled up to her chest.

One exposed kneecap appeared to be a baby’s head, and her white skirt looked like she was tucked in a blanket.

Rebecca said: “The lighting was good so I thought I’d take a photo and post it on social media but I just didn’t get it.

“Then a bunch of people started messaging me. I thought ‘what the fuck?’ and I wasn’t sure if I should delete it, but I thought I’d keep it because it’s funny.

“People seriously asked me if I had a child. “I’m glad my family didn’t see it first and panic.

She eventually cleared up the confusion by announcing, “IT’S THE KNEE.”

The post has been viewed more than 300,000 times, with one woman commenting: “Congratulations.”

Warning her of an optical illusion, her friend told her: “I love you so much, but [in] your Instagram post I thought your knee was a baby’s head and your skirt looked like a blanket.
