Sukhwinder Singh is an internationally renowned Indian playback singer. He came into the spotlight singing “Chaiyya Chaiyya” in the Bollywood film “Dil Se…”, but it was the song “Jai Ho” from the film “Slumdog Millionaire” that introduced him to international audiences. Sukhwinder has composed many popular songs for over two decades and is one of India’s top singers.

Sukhwinder Singh was born on Sunday, July 18, 1971 in Sharikapinder, Amritsar (age 52; as of 2023). His zodiac sign is Cancer. He became interested in music at the age of 4 and began studying music. At the age of 8, Sukhwinder made her stage debut performing the song “Sa Re Ga Ma” from the film “Abhinetri”. He went to Leicester, London, to study music. Sukhwinder later released a Punjabi album “Southhall Da with T. Singh” and Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

Sukhwinder Singh started his singing career in 1986 by singing a few lines in the film Karma. He then lent his voice to the song “Aaja Sanam” in the movie “Khilaaf”. Afterwards, he took a sabbatical and traveled around the world learning about different forms of music. He visited Russia, three countries in the Middle East, the United States, Europe, China, Hong Kong and Mexico. After returning to Mumbai, Sukhwinder collaborated with AR Rahman to record “Chaiyya Chaiyya” for the film “Dil Se…”, the song became a hit and so did Sukhwinder.

Later, he worked as a backup singer in films like “Taal”, “Apna Sapna Money Money”, “Shaadi Se Pehle”, “Shabd”, “Chak De!” India’, ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Black and White’. His most popular songs include ‘Haule Haule’, ‘Saaki’, ‘Ramta Jogi’, ‘Jaane Tu Mera Kya Hai’ and ‘Thok De Killi’.

Sukhwinder has worked as a backup singer for many popular Bollywood actors including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Arjun Rampal, Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan and Ajay Devgn. In 2008, his song “Jai Ho” performed in the movie “Slumdog Millionaire” won many accolades and rose to international prominence.

In 2014, she participated in the dance reality show “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7”.
