Summer House’s Lindsay Hubbard Says Broken Engagement ‘Blew Up My Entire Life’

Lindsay Hubbard talks about the aftermath of her broken engagement with Carl Radke.

Speaking about what she found to be an “absolutely humiliating” termination, Hubbard said Us Weekly that the split rocked her world, noting that it “wasn’t my decision.”

“He blew up my whole life,” he said Summer house star, 37, said. “I cried, I was angry and I had to find the end on my own. Now I’m in a place where I feel really good about moving on.”

Hubbard indicated that there was no cheating, nor was Radke’s sobriety a contributing factor. She also “will absolutely never regret being with him.” As for how he’s holding up in general, Hubbard said, “The first month I let myself feel all the feels: go through the grief, the pain, the whiplash.”

“I process [things] talking about my emotions, and my friends allowed me that space,” she continued. “I was able to regain my strength and [the] confidence like, OK, I can do it.”

Hubbard, who still lives alone in the couple’s shared apartment, says the divorce taught her some very important lessons about herself.

I’m stronger than I ever thought, because if I can get through this, then everything else is peanuts, she said. “I got a lot [messages] from girls who say it’s an inspiration to see how I put one foot in front of the other to get back there, starting with the girls trip, which lasted just three weeks [after the split]. I feel myself gaining momentum to find happiness and joy.”

A year after their August 2022 engagement, PEOPLE confirmed in September that Hubbard and Radke, 38, had called off their November wedding. Radke announced the news in a letter he shared with family and friends, saying the former couple were “incredibly sorry to all of our guests for the confusion and lack of communication” as they were “left trying to figure out exactly how this all happened before we could even have the opportunity to determine the way forward yourself.”

“There have been many false stories and misunderstandings that have made this even more painful, but unfortunately we are not proceeding with the wedding at this time,” Radke continued in the letter, obtained by PEOPLE. “The fact of the matter is that Lindsay is devastated and I am devastated that this has all happened. I am kindly asking for some patience and grace as we heal and recover as we go through this extremely difficult time.”

Sharing some insights into what went wrong between the two of them, the two of them Summer house Costar Kyle Cooke claimed it got to the point where “they couldn’t even communicate without a third party.”

“It’s no secret that they’ve been in constant couples therapy since they actually started dating,” Cooke, 41, recently told E! News. “From my perspective, there were times when I was like, ‘Man, almost the only time they could interact in a given week was in therapy.’
