Sunny Hostin Censored on The View After Asking to Quote Profane Donald Trump Catchphrase

Sunny Host was told she couldn’t repeat a Donald Trump quote View Monday.

During an episode of the morning talk show, Hostin, 55, and her co-hosts discussed Trump’s recent appearance at the Black Conservative Federation gala on Friday, according to a clip posted on View‘with x (formerly Twitter) account.

At the event, Trump, 77, told the crowd that black people had “embraced” his photo. He also made inappropriate jokes about race.

After watching some video clips of his remarks, Hostin, 55, called the former president “hell” and reminded her co-hosts that “only 1%” of black voters cast their ballots for Republican candidates in 2022. She also claimed that there were only four black people. at the event, nominated Senator Tim Scott, Ben Carson and Representative Byron Donalds.

“So his message is not resonating with black voters the way the media is trying to make it out to be,” she continued, sarcastically calling it “shocking.”

Hostin then referred to Trump’s 1973 housing discrimination lawsuit, the fact that he “dined with white racists” and his quote that there were “nice people on both sides” following the 2017 clash between white supremacist groups and protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia.

While listing Trump’s abusive behavior, Hostin said, “He called countries like Haiti,” she paused and then asked executive producer Brian Tet, “Can I say that? Can I say a word, Brian?” You can watch the exchange at about the 3:30 mark below.

“No, I already tried,” co-host Ana Navarro said.

The aunt was seen shaking her head and saying, “No.” Hostin’s audio was cut, and when it was restored, co-host Sarah Haines responded, “I don’t think I can say that either.”

“It’s been said,” moderator Whoopi Goldberg added, seemingly ending the discussion.

Hostin could be heard saying “countries,” meaning she was likely referring to Trump’s “it’s countries” comment. The former president said profanity in reference to Haiti and African nations back in 2018, according to the Associated Press and NBC News. Navarro previously spoke about Trump’s use of the term.

“He falsely accused the Central Park Five,” Hostin continued. “He’s a racist, according to a lot of people. And that’s why a racist who relies on racism doesn’t work.”

During the Hot Topic discussion, Goldberg said Trump ran on “racism and revenge.”

Hostin representatives did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment about Monday’s episode.
