In 2019, Surender Gill represented Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) Rohtak in the All India Inter-University Championship (AIIU) and won the championship. After the championship match, Surender participated in the trials of the Pro Kabaddi League and was selected by the Lucknow Kabaddi team “UP Yoddhas” to participate in the seventh season of the Pro Kabaddi League. Surender played in a total of 18 games and had a blitz rate of 38% and a tackle rate of 47%.
