Suresh Gopi is an Indian actor, television host, politician and social activist who has appeared in more than 250 films in Mollywood and Kollywood. He is famous for his roles as police officers and military officers in action movies. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since 2016.

Suresh Gopi was born in Kollam, Kerala, India. According to one source, he was born on Wednesday, June 25, 1958 (age 65; as of 2023), and according to another source, he was born on Thursday, June 26, 1958 (age 65; as of 2023). His zodiac sign is Cancer. He completed his schooling at Infant Jesus Anglo-Indian School and Fatima Mata National College, Quilon. He subsequently completed his BA in Zoology and completed his MA in English Literature from the University of Kerala in 1982. He made his debut as a child artist in the 1965 film Odayil Ninnu. As an adult, he made his acting debut in the 1986 film Niramulla Ravulkal, in which he played a small role. He became a member of Rajyasabha (the upper house of the Indian Parliament) on April 29, 2016. He was nominated in the Distinguished Persons category under Article 80 of the Constitution of India. He selected Thiruvananthapuram district as the nodal district development plan for the local assembly member. He officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on October 19, 2016. In the 2019 Indian general elections, he contested from Thrissur constituency; however, he finished third. In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, he contested from Thrissur seat and finished third. It is speculated that he will enter the Indian Union Cabinet in 2023.

Facts/Trivia
- In September 2017, when the controversy over entry into the Sri Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala was ongoing, he stated at a public event that he wanted to be reincarnated as a Brahmin and become the abbot or junior priest of the Ayyappa temple. The move angered local people. Protesters posted on social media denouncing him.
- In March 2018, he said in a public statement that there was caste discrimination in the Malayalam film industry when he entered the industry; however, things changed when he and other artistes won some film awards.
- He was known for helping artists and people irrespective of caste, politics or religion. Notably, Malayalam director Alleppey Ashraf revealed in May 2020 that Gopi had helped late Malayalam actor Radish Ratheesh’s family. He paid off their debts, took care of their education expenses and gave Latish a gold souvenir for her daughter’s wedding.
