Suspected Bank Robber Found Sleeping Inside Unknowing Woman’s Home After Fleeing Crime Scene

A man suspected of robbing a Georgia bank has been arrested on multiple charges after he was found sleeping on the floor of an unidentified woman’s home.

On Wednesday, the Roswell Police Department (RPD) arrested 27-year-old James Raborn and charged him with armed robbery, felony trespassing and other traffic violations as a result of the pursuit. According to an RPD statement posted on Facebook, Raborn allegedly robbed the Truist Bank on Holcomb Bridge Road in Roswell on Monday after allegedly passing a message to the teller, demanding money and threatening the teller with a gun.

Police received the call around 3:30 p.m. local time on Monday, 10 minutes after the alleged robbery, when Raborn allegedly fled the scene.

“Additional detectives responded to the bank and immediately set about identifying suspicious information,” police said in a statement. “Using surveillance footage from the bank and neighboring businesses, along with the technological resources of the Roswell Crime Center, detectives were able to quickly identify the vehicle involved and potential suspects.”

The next day, Tuesday, around 9 a.m. local time, license plate readers on E. Crossville Road in Roswell directed police to Raborn, who allegedly drove off after attempting to pull over, according to police.

RPD said that after a “short vehicle pursuit,” the suspect fled from officers on foot, and 29-year-old Emily Browning was discovered as a passenger in the vehicle. Browning was later noted as a “knowing participant” and charged with armed robbery.

After “a large number of law enforcement resources flooded the Mountain Park area in search of Raborn” — including K9 teams and drones — detectives used cell phone data Wednesday to locate the suspect on Mountain Park Road. They then found “an outbuilding on a nearby property with evidence that someone had been inside recently,” according to police.

“The detectives made contact with the owner of the house, and when she came to the door to meet them, she saw Raborn lying on the floor of the spare bedroom,” the police announced. “The homeowner immediately came out and let the officers in, who took Raborn into custody without incident.”

As authorities noted, the woman who owned the home was “not aware until that moment” that Raborn was in her home and there was no contact between the two. The Roswell Police Department said Raborn likely entered the home through the kitchen window while the woman was not home.

Raborn was then transported to the Fulton County Jail, where he was booked Thursday. He and Browning are believed to have been involved in multiple armed robberies in the metro Atlanta area, according to police.

PEOPLE was unable to obtain attorney information for Raborn and Browning on Sunday.

According to Fulton County Jail records, Raborn is being held on bail totaling $16,500 for the multiple charges and faces additional fines. CNN reported that he was being held on $20,000 bail.

Browning, who was taken into custody Tuesday, was released Friday with bail set at $25,000, according to records.
