Baker, an English cream golden retriever, “loves having a human brother” and takes good care of her, according to the dog’s owner
Baker, an English cream golden retriever, is smitten with his new sibling and likes to keep a close eye on her whenever he can.
In December, Baker’s owner shared a video on the dog’s TikTok account (@baker_the_englishcream) of the pooch looking intently at a baby monitor showing his sleeping new sister.
“My dog loves watching the baby nap on the monitor and patiently waits until we can wake her up,” Baker’s pet parent captioned the snap, which has more than 792,000 views.
In the video, Baker keeps his eyes glued to the baby monitor until the owner tells him it’s time to wake the baby up, to which the golden retriever reacts by jumping excitedly and following his pet parent to the baby’s room.
Baker’s owner, who wished to remain anonymous, tells PEOPLE that this gentle behavior is not surprising because Baker is “the sweetest dog I’ve ever met. He’s extremely intelligent and just ‘gets’ things, almost like a human.”

A golden retriever who carries a stuffed dog everywhere is surprised by a real puppy — watch!
“He’s very loyal; he spends all day around looking after his family – he won’t even get out of bed until we wake up. He loves to watch TV and will sit and watch a whole movie with us,” Baker’s pet parent says.
A dog’s love of TV could be one of the reasons why he likes watching the baby monitor so much.
“I think he just recognized that this was a ‘smaller TV’ and he liked that he could see the baby on it,” says the owner.
At first, Baker’s family wasn’t sure how interested the dog would be in his new human brother because the dog seemed apathetic about his pet parent’s pregnancy.

“I’ve seen a lot of women say they felt when they were pregnant, their dogs didn’t notice or care that they had a baby in their belly. I felt the same way. When I was pregnant, Baker didn’t seem to notice,” Baker said. equity shares.
But things changed when the baby arrived. “He loved getting a human brother,” says the dog’s owner, adding that the puppy watched “every diaper change and feeding in the first weeks.”

Baker still likes to keep an eye on the baby, either on a monitor or face-to-face.
“Baker always joins in when it’s time for the baby to wake up. He jumps on the bed so he can look in the baby’s crib to see what the baby is doing. He follows us from room to room and stays close,” adds the golden retriever’s pet parent.
