Swizz Beatz Defends Wife Alicia Keys’ Vocal Performance at 2024 Super Bowl: ‘We Don’t Do Negative Vibes’

Swizz Beatz is not here to hate his wife Alicia Keys.

Keys joined Usher as a special guest during his Super Bowl LVIII halftime show on Sunday, and her voice cracked as she sang her hit “If I Ain’t Got You” — drawing criticism from some fans. The next day, Beatz took to Instagram and defended his wife’s performance.

“Y’all talking about the wrong damn thing!!! don’t you see that amazing dress covering the entire stadium,” the producer, 45, wrote, drawing attention to Keys’ bejeweled red Dolce & Gabbana jumpsuit and flowing organza cape, which she removed after she was at the piano sang “If I Ain’t Got You”.

“Tonight’s performance was nothing short of amazing with 2 amazing Giants! Congrats to @usher and my love @aliciakeys that song is a classic,” Beatz continued, crediting the two R&B stars for performing their 2004 hit “My Boo” during the halftime show .

“We’re not creating negative vibes on this side, we’re creating history,” added the musician, whose real name is Kasseem Daoud Dean, in defense of his wife’s performance during the halftime show at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

About a third of the way through the half, Keys appeared at a red piano and began to sing “If I Ain’t Got You” solo — going through a vocal crack in the process — before being joined by Usher to finish the song as a duet. Keys then got up from the piano, and the pair sang “My Boo,” embracing each other to close out their performance together.

In addition to Keys’ halftime guest appearance, HER joined Usher on guitar during “U Got It Bad” and “Bad Girl,” while Jermaine Dupri spoke on stage, Will.i.am joined for “OMG” and Lil Jon rapped ” Turn Down for What” — before Ludacris entered the mix for the grand finale, “Yeah!”
