Sydney Sweeney Shares How Fashion Empowers Her as a Woman and Reveals Her Go-To 'Comfort' Outfit (Exclusive)

Sydney Sweeney is a certified IT girl with great style to prove it.

She could probably pull off a red carpet moment in her sleep, willing to take risks at iconic events like the Met Gala and always he does his best during press tours. (Remember when she did 10 outfit changes in 48 hours during it Anyone but you era?)

But at the end of the day, the 26-year-old actress and producer feels most like herself when she can only be Syd, the side that prefers “full comfort” to glamor when the cameras are off.

Wanting to introduce his fans to this part of his fashion world, The Euphoria star teamed up with HEYDUDE, a casual footwear brand she and her family have always been “obsessed with.”

As the brand’s new global spokesperson, Sweeney is ready to go all out on her favorite shoe and show what her style really is.

“I have definitely noticed that the brand is very popular among young men. And I always gravitate towards brands that I want to bring to a younger female audience because I really think this footwear is for everyone. Everyone should feel comfortable and confident,” Sweeney tells PEOPLE.

In her new HEYDUDE campaign, she redefines what it means to be a “dude” while showing what makes Syd, well, Syd.

“I’m always very proud of being the director of my own life, and that’s what I think being a dude means. I think this campaign really just pulls back the curtains and shows who I am behind the camera and inspires people to be confident.”

Sweeney can always count on HEYDUDE shoes to get her through the day. The first pair she had were slip-in Wendy, and since then she has stayed true to the style because they go with her everyday clothes, which usually consist of a sweater and a T-shirt or overalls.

Sydney Sweeney debuts a shocking black bob with her fairytale ball gown at the 2024 Met Gala.

While she prefers comfort, Sweeney can appreciate the haute couture look for what it is and really has fun channeling her creative energy into her clothes.

“Fashion is a really fun way to embrace different sides of yourself. Some days I might feel very girly, some days I might feel edgy. Others, I may feel like I want to be more relaxed. It’s a way for me to express these different sides of what I feel or who I am.”

“It’s always going to change,” Sweeney adds of his style. “That’s what’s so amazing, especially when you’re a woman, the ability to embrace all the different sides of yourself, because we’re so diverse and there’s so much going on. I can never imagine being one thing for the rest of my life.”

When it comes to relating to the clothes her characters wear, Sweeney has more of a free hand, unlike today’s popular method of dressing. She draws on “the comfort of different characters and how they dress” wherever she can, like when she wore a custom Miu Miu dress inspired by one of her dresses from Anyone but you which paid tribute to Julia Roberts’ bridesmaid dress in the My best friend’s wedding.

Whether in sweatpants or a dress, Sweeney is a public figure whose fashion choices are discussed almost daily online. When asked if outside noise affects her, Sweeney says the following:

“If I put [clothes] and I smile and feel good [in them]then I know that’s what I want to wear. I don’t let others dictate how I should feel or what I should do or wear, because if I’m happy and it makes me feel good, that’s what matters.”
