T.J. Holmes Says He Can’t Imagine a ‘Scenario’ Where Returning to GMA ‘Makes Sense’

TJ Holmes gets candid about whether he’ll ever return to the Good morning America.

Former GMA3: What you need to know the presenter, 46, revealed in the last episode of the series The Amy & TJ Podcastannounced on Thursday that he will have a lot of questions about his return if he is ever invited back to the show.

“There are a lot of ifs, and does that include working with you?” Holmes told his co-host and partner Amy Robach. “Does that involve working with some of the same people who are still there? It would involve a lot of…”

He said he generally “doesn’t see a path” to returning to the ABC show.

“Obviously nobody there is thinking about us coming back, but I couldn’t put together a scenario that actually makes sense,” he added.

Holmes and Robach, 51, were put on hiatus from the show in December 2022, a month after news of their relationship broke. The network launched an investigation, and in January 2023, ABC confirmed to PEOPLE that the couple would not be returning to the series.

“After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and TJ Holmes about various options, we all agreed that it was best for everyone to move on from ABC News. We recognize their talent and dedication over the years and are grateful for their contributions,” an ABC spokesperson said. is in the statement at the time.

In May, ABC announced that Eva Pilgrim and DeMarco Morgan would replace the two as the new co-hosts for GMA3: What you need to knowwith ABC News Chief Health and Medical Correspondent Dr. Jennifer Ashton remaining as a contributor.

At the launch of their podcast in December 2023, Holmes described himself and Robach as “people who lost jobs we love because we love each other.”

Robach added that despite “going through a year of hell” after their relationship was initially revealed, she and Holmes had “the most beautiful relationship I’ve ever had in my life.”

“In the end, we’re all always rooting for love,” she said on the podcast. “It doesn’t always happen when you want it to happen, where you want it to happen. And it’s undeniable when it’s real and something you have to navigate, and it’s not easy.”

She added: “Relationships are hard, they’re messy, they’re not perfect, but we fought for love and I can say I’ve never been happier. I’m with my best friend.”
