Taco Bell Brings Back the Double Decker Taco at a Cheaper Price After a Fan Called Them 'Cowards' on Twitter

Taco Bell was forced to bring back the popular item.

The fast-casual Mexican restaurant’s Double Decker Tacos are back from Oct. 10 through the end of the month after a fan’s strongly worded message rocked the chain.

The item at the center of the tacos’ tension joins the two tacos into one bite. A hard-shell taco filled with beef, lettuce and shredded cheese is wrapped in a soft bean-filled tortilla. The premium version also has tomatoes and sour cream inside the taco shell.

In August, @scottinthe503 responded to a Taco Bell post on X (formerly known as Twitter) and poked fun at the fast food chain. “Bring back the Double Decker Taco, you cowards,” he wrote.

The fan-favorite item was last available in December 2023 and has a storied history as it was first available in 1995. The Double Decker Taco became a permanent menu item in 2006 before being discontinued in 2019. Since then, it has made occasional appearances to the ire of customers whenever he started.

In celebration of Taco Bell’s courage to return to the menu, the Double Decker Taco will be $2 and the Double Decker Taco Supreme will be $2.69 (compared to the previous prices of $2.99 and $3.69, respectively).
