Few things are more rock and roll than getting bitten by a bat on stage and still playing – just ask Taylor Momsen.
The star, 30, was performing with her band The Pretty Reckless in Seville, Spain on Wednesday, May 29, when a bat landed on her leg mid-song, prompting the star to request several rabies shots.
“So… ROCK AND ROLL MOMENT…in Sevilla on Wednesday during ‘Witches Burn’ all songs…A BAT 🦇 🦇 flew at me and stuck to my leg…at the moment I was performing and I had no idea until the amazing crowd she didn’t keep screaming and pointing,” she captioned an Instagram post on Friday, May 31.
Momsen wrote that the bat did indeed bite her, even though it was “cute,” meaning she will have to receive rabies shots for the next two weeks.

“thanks to all the staff at the hospital who called me #batgirl after seeing it on the local news this morning…more shots to come…it’s for the books!!!!” she concluded her post.
The Gossip girl The alum also shared a video of the moment, as well as zoomed-in photos of the bat on her leg and footage from the trip to the hospital.
“You guys are pointing at something and I don’t know what you’re saying,” she says from the stage in the video. “There’s a fucking flying bat on my leg right now. Can somebody help me? Eeeek!! I must really be a witch.”
At that point, several crew members came on stage to help her, prompting her to tell the audience, “It’s okay, and the bat is okay. He will be my new friend.”
Singer Natasha Bedingfield commented on Momsen’s post and asked the star if the bite hurt. Momsen responded by saying, “Bite? Not. Recordings? YES 🙏❤️”

A few hours later, she added another video to her page further explaining the situation.
“#BATGIRL Part 2 🦇🦇🦇⚡️⚡️⚡️ #ACDC #PWRUP Tour #WitchesBurn,” she captioned another clip that showed her walking backstage, presumably before seeking medical attention.
“I really don’t want the rabies vaccine, and he scared me to death and wanted to be my friend,” Momson said of the bat in her video. “And all the fans were trying to tell me, and they were like, they were pointing and I didn’t know what they were saying. I thought I would like, lose, a bracelet… no tampon? I don’t know, it’s been happening before,” Momson said, trying to guess why everyone in the crowd was pointing fingers.
“The happiest bat ever! He flew away saying, ‘Thank God it wasn’t Ozzy!’ 😂,” one person wrote in their comment section.
The singer and her band were in Spain opening for AC/DC on the Power Up rock tour, where they will be until August.
Momsen launched The Pretty Reckless in 2009, and the band released their fourth and most recent album, Death with rock and roll, in 2021. They were also shutting down Other worlds 2022, an album consisting of acoustic recordings, covers and more.

In May 2023, Momsen said in a radio interview that she and her bandmates were hard at work on a new album.
“We’ve kind of already started,” she said. “We entered the studio, we stepped into the studio. So that tells us something. I don’t know how long it will take. I don’t have dates for anyone or any other insight beyond that. But we got into the studio and we’re super, super excited.
