As two of the biggest names in the music industry, Taylor Swift and Beyoncé have a unique bond that has created an enduring friendship.
Besides hanging out at awards shows and partying together, the two cheered each other on in their careers.
Recently, Beyoncé made a surprise appearance at the Swift Eras Tour premiere in Los Angeles. Following the film’s premiere, Swift posted a sweet video of them in the theater, praising the “Energy” singer for being a “guiding light through” her career.

September 13, 2009: Taylor Swift and Beyoncé share a sweet moment at the MTV VMAs

One of the first times the singers interacted publicly was at the 2009 MTV VMAs, where Kanye West infamously stormed the stage during Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video for “You Belong with Me.”
Taking the mic from Swift, West declared, “Hey Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!” The crowd greeted the moment with boos as Beyoncé looked shocked in the audience.
At the end of the awards, when Beyoncé was awarded Video of the Year for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” she shared a sweet moment with Swift as she asked her to come back on stage and do the rest of her acceptance speech.
“This is amazing,” Beyoncé said as she accepted her award. “I remember when I was 17, I went to my first MTV Awards with Destiny with Child and it was one of the most exciting moments of my life, so I would love for Taylor to come out and have her moment.”
After Swift’s speech, the two embraced and left the stage together. “It was so wonderful and kind of her,” Swift told reporters after the show. “She’s always been a great person… I thought I couldn’t love Beyoncé more and tonight it happened and it was just beautiful.”
December 13, 2014: Beyoncé and JAY-Z at Taylor Swift’s 25th Birthday Party
The singers reunited in 2014 when Beyoncé and JAY-Z attended Swift’s 25th birthday party at her home in New York. During the party, which also included guests like Justin Timberlake, Sam Smith and Haim, Beyoncé and Swift posed for a handful of photos together, including a fun photo booth shot.
February 2015: Taylor Swift opens up about her love for Beyoncé
Ahead of the 2015 Brit Awards, where female singers were competing for the same award, Swift couldn’t help gushing about the “Diva” singer while speaking to KissFMUK.
“It’s normal for everyone to love Beyoncé, but I love her more than that amount, more than the normal amount,” Swift said, per E! News.
“I’m really trying not to make it creepy,” she joked. “I just like it so much, I channel it into joyful admiration and respect.”
She continued, “I’m usually nominated against a lot of my friends, so you have to — just for humanity and to have a good time — legitimately be happy for other people.”
“The only way I’m going to be upset is if we don’t see Beyoncé,” she added. “I’m not going to be upset because I didn’t win. I’m just going to say, ‘I wish we could see her all the time.'”

At the 2016 Grammy Awards (where Swift took home Album of the Year for in 1989 and Beyoncé made a surprise appearance on stage to present the album of the year) the singers hugged backstage.

During the 2016 Met Gala, which Swift co-chaired, she and Beyoncé were spotted talking inside the venue and pose for a photo together in front of a wall of roses.
June 17, 2019: Taylor Swift references Beyoncé in her “You Need to Calm Down” music video
While Swift talked about the destructiveness of apartment culture in her “You Need to Calm Down” music video, she showed severalRuPaul’s Drag Race alumni dressed as pop superstars. In addition to including singers such as Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry and more, she made sure to include Beyoncé in the lineup.
Drag Race Host RuPaul also appeared in the video, wearing a crown, while Swift sings “We all got crowns, you need to calm down.”
March 14, 2021: Taylor Swift cheers for Beyoncé at the Grammys

Although they didn’t pose for any photos together at the event, Swift was seen enthusiastically cheering for Beyoncé as the latter made history as the most-awarded female artist in Grammy history. (Beyoncé later broke the record for most Grammys won at the 2023 awards.)
That same night, Swift also made history by taking home album of the year for Folklorebecoming the first woman to win the award three times.
March 19, 2021: Taylor Swift receives flowers from Beyoncé

Following their historic win at the Grammys, Swift revealed that she received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from Beyoncé.
On her Instagram Story, Swift shared a photo of flowers, tagging Beyoncé in a hand-drawn heart. In another post, Swift shared another shot of the bouquet (reminiscent of her Oscar de la Renta floral dress) and a message from Queen Bey herself.
The handwritten note read: “Taylor congrats on the Grammys. It was great seeing you Sunday night. Thank you for always being so supportive. Sending love to you and your family. B.”
Swift shared her gratitude for the gift, writing, “Woke up to flowers from the queen of grace and greatness @beyonce and suddenly it’s the best Friday EVER. Thank you B and congrats on your epic achievement Sunday night!!”

As Swift celebrated the release of her Eras Tour concert film, she had the support of Beyoncé, who made a surprise appearance at the Los Angeles premiere. In addition to a photo together on the red carpet, Swift shared a heartfelt tribute to the singer on Instagram.
“I’m so glad I’ll never know what my life would have been like without the influence of @beyonce,” Swift began the Instagram caption, which was written alongside a boomerang video of her and Beyoncé at a movie theater. “The way she taught me and every artist here to break the rules and defy industry norms. Her generosity of spirit.”
“Her resilience and versatility,” added the “Love Story” singer. “She has been a guiding light throughout my career and the fact that she appeared tonight was like a real fairy tale. 😇🙏🥹.”
