Taylor Swift and Disney surprised fans in Austria with a special chance to see the Eras Tour concert film after the pop star had to cancel her scheduled shows in Vienna due to a foiled terrorist plot.

Disney has partnered with cable station ORF to broadcast the Disney+ movie Taylor Swift | Eras Tour (Taylor Version) as a free TV premiere in Austria on Saturday evening, August 10. In addition, the streamer is offering a limited-time, free seven-day trial of Disney+ Premium for those fans who want to watch the movie there starting August 10. .

Days earlier, on Wednesday, August 7, local authorities in Vienna confirmed that they had arrested two men in connection with a planned attack on Swift’s scheduled concerts at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium on August 8, 9 and 10. A third male suspect was arrested the following day, according to the Associated Press.

Shortly after the first two arrests, the concert promoter announced that he “had no choice but to cancel the three scheduled concerts for everyone’s safety” in an Instagram post, which was then shared on Taylor Nation’s official Instagram Stories account.

At a press conference on August 8, Omar Haijawi-Pirchner, the head of Austria’s Directorate for State Security and Intelligence, said that one of the arrested suspects admitted that he intended to “carry out an attack” at the concert “using explosives and knives,” more reported media.

“His aim was to kill himself and a large number of people during the concert today or tomorrow,” added Haijawi-Pirchner, speaking on the day of the first scheduled concert.

Although Swift has not canceled a concert because of similar threats in the past, the singer previously admitted that such an attack was one of her “greatest fears.”

In one 2019 ELLE profile, Swift said she was “absolutely terrified” of the tour after the attacks at Ariana Grande’s concert in Manchester, England, and Jason Aldean’s performance at the Las Vegas Route 91 Harvest Festival two years earlier.

“After the Manchester Arena bombing and the shooting at the Vegas concert, I was absolutely terrified to go on tour this time because I didn’t know how we were going to protect 3 million fans for seven months,” Swift told the news outlet, referring to the deadly bombing. the 2017 attack after Ariana’s concert in Manchester, England, and the shooting during Jason Aldean’s performance at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas that same year.
