Taylor Swift Makes $5 Million Donation for Hurricane Helene and Milton Relief: 'We're Incredibly Grateful'

Taylor Swift has donated a large amount in an effort to help those recovering from the effects of Hurricanes Helena and Milton.

On Wednesday, October 9, Feeding America shared a statement on Instagram thanking the star for her generous contribution.

“We are incredibly grateful to Taylor Swift for her generous donation of $5 million for Hurricane Helene and Milton relief. This contribution will help communities rebuild and recover, providing basic food, clean water and supplies to people affected by these devastating storms,” ​​Claire Babineaux- Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America wrote in a statement.

The statement continued: “Together, we can make a real difference in supporting families as they face the challenges ahead. Thank you, Taylor, for standing with us in the movement to end hunger and for helping communities in need.”

They also encouraged readers to “join Taylor if you’re able” and donate.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Milton will bring “life-threatening” hazards to the West Coast up and down central and south Florida, centered in the Tampa Bay area. Originally a Category 5 hurricane with gusts in excess of 160 mph, it has since oscillated to a Category 3.

Hurricane Milton is poised to become the costliest disaster in Florida history. That record was only set two years ago with Hurricane Ian, and veteran WTVJ meteorologist John Morales said Milton has already eclipsed Ian in terms of peak intensity.

On October 5, AP News reported that the death toll from Hurricane Helena had reached 227 — and it was unclear how many people were missing and missing.

This isn’t the first time Swift has donated in times of crisis. Last December, the “Down Bad” singer donated $1 million to the Middle Tennessee Community Foundation’s Tennessee Emergency Fund after the state experienced deadly tornadoes.

At the time, devastating storms hit multiple districts in the area, leaving six dead, including two children.
