Taylor Swift’s gingham dress will make noise in your fall wardrobe — in other words, make noise, but in the best possible way.
During a break from the Eras Tour and a Sunday without Kansas City Chiefs football, Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, had plenty of sweet moments at the US Open, which they attended on September 8. While Kelce went with a Gucci hat and coordinating polo shirt, Swift bundled up in a $248 spaghetti strap dress by Reformation, a brand we already knew she was a fan of.
But instead of “checkered shirt days” as she says in the 10-minute version of her song “All Too Well,” she introduced us to another fall pattern, and that’s the one Reese Witherspoon wears: gingham. It was also very similar to the one on Jennifer Garner’s plaid shirt, as well as the plaid patterns.

Swift took a look at the Reformation Sora linen dress: Instead of wearing it with the straps hanging off her shoulders, as it was designed to be, she kept the straps up, making it even more fall-friendly — there’s something about an off-the-shoulder dress that just doesn’t work perfect for colder days. With shoulder straps you have at least a little more protection from the cold.
The versatile red and white pattern could be worn to the next Chiefs game or holiday party and is really the fall equivalent of a floral pattern in the summer. Which, speaking of, is something Jennifer Aniston repeated several times from the brand last summer.

The longer length is important if you plan to wear the dress for any outdoor functions. The chest area here is smocked (as is the back of Swift’s dress) and “eliminates the need for a bra,” according to one customer. Oh, and if you get it in blue, it will double as a Halloween costume. Just put on red shoes and you can say you are Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. But what’s more, you can wear it again the next day as usual.

We’ve already talked about Witherspoon’s love for gingham, but she’s also a puff sleeve fanatic. Plus, having a little extra warmth on your shoulders this time of year isn’t such a bad thing. A v-neck is also less restrictive than a turtleneck, but with a thick red scarf (wink wink) you’ll stay covered in the cold. It’s now 42 percent off and comes in sizes 2 to 12.
