Ted Lange Was Warned That Gene Kelly Was 'Grumpy' on Set of The Love Boat — Before Discovering 'He Was Wonderful'

Ted Lange thinks about his memories of Love boat – And how the guest star Gene Kelly did not prove to be “grumpy” as they took him to belief.

In the episode, Kelly played a retired spy on cruising in Hong Kong. Between the filming of the movie, Lange said that he and Kelly were waiting for them to shoot the scene together, and despite the warnings mentioned above, he decided to talk to the honorary guest of the episode a little.

“He read the magazine,” Langa said. “He wore contacts and glasses. So, he sits there and reads, and I said, ‘Fuck this, I’m going to talk to Gene Kelly. “Well, I’m going, he sits in one chair, I’m sitting over him, I’m going,” Hi. ”

After Kelly “looked up” in Lange and confessed to him, he returned to reading. But Lange did not give up so easily.

Kelly died in 1996, 12 years after filming her away role on Love boat Next to Lange. Meeting with the Hollywood legend, revealed Langa, was “completely different” than he expected.
