A teenage girl was left furious after discovering her mum had stolen and damaged beauty products she had bought while in Korea.
In a post on Reddit’s “Am I A——” forum, the 19-year-old revealed her mum, 56, was impressed with her colour-correcting cosmetics after giving her a makeover “for fun” the day before their heated exchange .
After explaining how the make-up works, the teenager said her mum expressed a desire to “use it from now on” to cover up dark spots and irritations.
“She then says ‘I’m going to use it tomorrow before I go to church in the morning,'” the teenager wrote, referring to her mom. “I tell her ‘PLEASE wake me up and let me put it on’. I was really nervous about it because she used my makeup without asking and 99% of the time she uses products the wrong way and damages them.”

“So I told her I’d rather not use mine at all, but if she insists, to bring me to make sure she doesn’t spoil my products that I paid for,” she added.
Before going to bed, the teenager considered hiding her make-up bag from her mother to prevent her from using expensive products unsupervised. However, in the end she decided to have a little faith that her mom wouldn’t touch her things.
“The morning comes and I wake up and I see her already rummaging through my products in my room,” said the teenager. “I say ‘??? Have you used my color corrector yet??’ and she says ‘yes!’
“I get up and look at it and I’m horrified to find that she did everything I feared she would do,” the teenager continued. “She didn’t know how much product to use, so she overdid it and now there are two huge craters in the product.”

On top of that, her mom decided to mix the two color correcting materials together to get the best of both worlds, “So now the whole product is just this ugly, muddy mess,” the teenager wrote.
When asked why she did not wait for her daughter’s help, the mother replied that she tried to wake her up, but to no avail.
“I told her to get out of my room and kicked her out,” the teenager wrote. “She yelled at me, saying I was exaggerating for nothing, and slammed the door on my way out.”

The teenager admitted that she spent the rest of the morning in tears because of the destroyed products.
“Can’t you see that the product clearly has the color separated into its parts?” the teenage girl wrote. “You can SEE from the fact that there is no mixing that I used this product intentionally not mixing the colors… SO WHY WOULD SHE THINK IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO MIX THEM????”
The post was flooded with comments from people who assured the teenager that she was right to stand up to her mom.
One person claimed her mum should replace the damaged make-up, while another urged the teenager to hide all her remaining beauty products.
“She broke her promise and destroyed something that belonged to you,” interjected a third. “I’m like that too, I’m very careful with my things, especially my makeup. It’s not just that it’s special or expensive (which I totally understand), but it’s also a hygiene issue for me, I can’t even imagine how you felt and I don’t think you overdid it.”
