The Golden Bachelor’s Gerry and Theresa Reveal Which of Their Kids Have Been a Wedding ‘Lifesaver’ (Exclusive)

As they prepare for their live televised wedding on Thursday, The Golden BachelorGerry Turner and Theresa Nist have less on their plate than the average bride and groom-to-be.

The couple lucked out in the daughter department, as Nist tells PEOPLE, raving about the help her daughter Jen offered when it came to wedding planning.

“She’s a lifesaver,” says the financial services professional, 70, as she and Turner, 72, made their New York red carpet debut in mid-December. “There are so many decisions that needed to be made, and in some cases, she would put together a vision board for me or get ideas for dresses and veils and rings.”

Jen actually took over the reins from the couple, who got engaged in the first season finale of the first season The Golden Bachelorand by mid-December there were “very few decisions” left.

“She keeps feeding me great things, and I’m like, ‘Yeah, that, that, that,'” Nist says. “Seriously – I don’t know if there would be a wedding if she wasn’t involved.”

Turner adds that the couple’s other children – he has two daughters and two granddaughters, while Nist also has a son Tommy and is a grandmother of six – will also be involved in their special day.

“They’re all involved,” he reveals. “There is a place for every member of the family at the wedding… We wouldn’t have it any other way.”

The wedding is also a kind of celebration for Jen herself, reports Nist.

“Her birthday is January 4th,” she explains, adding that her daughter feels “amazing” that she shares her birthday with their wedding date.

“It is the greatest gift for her,” continues Nist. “She fell in love with Gerry.”

The couple previously told PEOPLE that their daughters were “so involved” in the wedding planning process.

“My daughter, she’s seen a million weddings and she’s amazing,” Nist said of Jen. “She put together a vision board. She asks me: ‘Do you like this? Do you like this?’ And I’m like, ‘Wow, well, I don’t even have to do that. This is excellent.’ She carries it pretty well.”

Turner, a retired restaurateur, was happy to relinquish control in favor of his fiancee and her daughter’s preferences.

“I just hear the joy in her voice when I talk to her, and she’s talking about whether it’s a dress or a cake or flowers or whatever,” he said. “It makes me so happy that she’s having such a good time with it. It’s like, what could be more fun?”

Turner also shared that his brothers-in-law will be best men and Jen will be Nist’s maid of honor, which she is “so thrilled about.”

“All six of my grandchildren will be involved and we want to have Henry as the ring bearer,” Nist said. “And we will have my sisters – they don’t know it – as flower girls. They are older. They should be delighted with it.”

The couple admitted they are “pretty much in tune” when it comes to what they envision their big day to look like. The The Golden Bachelor star teased, “It’s going to be spectacular.”
