After seven seasons, Good doctor aired its final episode on Tuesday, May 21. Christina Chang, Will Yun Lee, Fiona Gubelmann, Kayla Cromer, Paige Spara and Chuku Modu honored their time on the ABC medical drama with posts on Instagram and Instagram Stories.

Lee (53), for his part, shared a photo of the actor from the last scene of the series finale on Instagram.

Chang — who played Audrey Lim for seven seasons — saw her character rise through the ranks to become co-president of San Jose St. Bonaventure until she decided to join the program to help doctors abroad. The 52-year-old actress posted on her Instagram stories right as she was told she had just finished her last scene for the finale.

She and Fiona Gubelmann, who played Morgan Reznick, ended up watching the series finale together — a moment Gubelmann shared on her Instagram Stories.

Paige Spara – who played Highmore’s love interest and eventual wife – also chose a final moment from the final scene of the film Good doctor finale and posted it on her Instagram stories as a way to say goodbye to the ABC medical drama.

“Thank you for seven life-changing years ❤️‍🩹,” she also wrote.

Returning to the series midway through Season 7, Chuku Modu was bumped up to a series regular for the final season. Donning scrubs and hospital gloves, Modu (33) bid a simple and tender farewell, writing: “Goodbye, goodbye and thank you 🙏🏿 @thegooddoctorabc.”

Cromer, who played the gifted Charlotte Lukaitis, offered her own touching tribute in an Instagram post.

“Tonight we mark the end of “The Good Doctor” with the seventh season. Playing Charlie in the series was a really valuable experience for me,” she wrote. “Honestly, I wish it hadn’t been canceled so I can be a part of her character development.”

In exclusive interviews with PEOPLE on set in Vancouver Good doctor in March, The cast discussed filming the final episodes of the ABC medical drama and why they feel it resonated with viewers over seven seasons.

The toddler, who suffered a second stroke seven months later, was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder called moyamoya disease and required double brain bypass surgery. Fortunately, the procedure was successful, and Cash’s health journey became the inspiration for the sixth season episode “Hard Heart”.

“I thought it was an important message, because [moyamoya disease] is one of the most frequently misdiagnosed diseases,” he said. “Before I left this show, I felt like I owed it to all the doctors who took care of my son to get that message out.”

Chang told PEOPLE that she will miss her role as Dr. Audrey Lim, who rose to president of San Jose St. Hospital. Bonaventure along with Dr. Glassman (Richard Schiff). Audrey also had to overcome difficult personal challenges, including surviving an attack in the Season 5 finale that left her temporarily paralyzed.

“What I really like about Dr. Lim is that she easily comes to be honest. I think he can step back and look at something a little more objectively than I do. I always work on that part and I like it,” she explained. “I’ll take that with me so I can see everything a little more objectively and as much as I can from perspective.”

Highmore admitted it was hard to say goodbye to his character, but parts of Shaun, arguably the best parts, will remain.

“He is so hopeful and optimistic,” he said. “I feel like that’s what people have associated with him over the years, that he sees the good in people. He reminds you that even when we’re different — we’re all really more the same than different — and I think he’s hopefully made me a better person.”
