The Ministry of Education released PGI 2.0 to serve the assessment of the general education system

Performance Rating Index 2.0

PGI 2.0: The education system in India is one of the largest in the world, with about 14.9 thousand schools, 950,000 teachers and nearly 26.5 million students from all socioeconomic backgrounds. different associations. The Department of Education introduced the PGI 2.0 framework, which consists of 1,000 points divided into 73 indicators grouped into two categories.

The Department of Education’s School Education and Literacy Department has developed the Performance Rating Index (PGI) for the Union States and Territories (UT). This index measures the performance of the school education system at the state/UT level by providing a comprehensive analysis. PGI – States/UTs was originally introduced for the 2017-18 school year and then released until 2020-21.

Revised PGI 2.0: Emphasis on quality indicators in educational assessment

Over time, some indicators in PGI – State/UT have become obsolete and no longer relevant. Furthermore, the previous structure of PGI was mainly focused on metrics related to management processes rather than quality indicators. To address these issues and align with new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 initiatives, the PGI-state structure has been revised and renamed PGI 2.0 for 2021-22. . The revised framework includes 73 indicators with an emphasis on qualitative assessment, digital initiatives, and teacher education.

The scores obtained by states/UTs in the previous edition of the PGI cannot be compared with those obtained in this new edition due to structural changes. The PGI 2.0 Framework includes 1000 points in two categories: outcomes and management (GM). These categories are divided into six areas: Learning Outcomes (LO), Access (A), Infrastructure and Facilities (IF), Equity (E), Governance (A) GP) and Teacher Education and Training (TE&T).

PGI 2.0: Introducing ten classes for optimal educational outcomes

PGI Goal 2.0 is to encourage states and UTs to implement a variety of interventions that will lead to optimal educational outcomes in all respects.

The indicators in PGI 2.0 align with the initiatives and policy interventions launched after the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to effectively monitor progress. PGI 2.0 aims to help states and UTs identify gaps and prioritize areas for intervention, ensuring a strong and inclusive school education system at all levels.
