Many people have wondered what it would be like if animals could talk. They rarely ask if they can sing jazz and solo! And yet, that’s exactly what the parrot Tico does to Frank Sr., his friend and owner.
Frank is an excellent pianist. He started by playing the classical jazz ‘Makin’ Whoopee.’ Tico seemed perfectly content to stand on Frank’s piano as it vibrated with the sound.
Tico is patiently waiting to add his beautiful voice to the song. Once he started it was hard to believe the sound was coming from his beak! He really kicked his ass! Like the great jazz legends before him, Tico sings like Louis Armstrong or Ella Fitzgerald.
Frank wears a yellow shirt while Tico’s green body and feathers are reflected on the black top of the piano. His yellow head moves slightly when he sings, but otherwise he stays completely still.
Frank begins the second song of the medley, “You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby.” He looked at Tico in surprise. The parrot is patiently waiting for the piano. It looks like he’s picking the exact moment to improvise his vocals one at a time.
Tic’s beak moves with its syllables, and its tongue sticks out from its beak to record long notes. He stands perfectly still as he delivers a tone that complements the beautiful piano sound.
Tico seems to like choosing when to add her vocals. He made room for the piano and then uttered a few syllables.
This parrot expresses itself with a soulful voice! It is one of the most unique and amazing performances you will ever witness.
