The Quarry: How To Earn The Hard Pass Trophy

The Quarry has a total of 40 achievements, with a notable hidden trophy called Hard Pass. The title is Supermassive Game’s newest entry in their interactive horror collection. The company’s previous games include Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology, both icons of the genre. The Quarry takes inspiration from slasher films and classic monster movies. Supermassive Games are famous for implementing a massive branching narrative, and their latest entry is no different. Every decision can have far-reaching consequences and this makes earning hidden trophies, like Hard Pass, difficult.

The Quarry places players in the role of nine teenage counselors of Hackett’s Quarry Summer Camp. After the prologue, the story officially starts when all the children have gone home. Due to a terrible decision by one counselor, named Jacob, everyone is stuck at the camp overnight. They irresponsibly decide to throw a party and are quickly thrust into a fatal situation. Everyone can die in The Quarry if players are not careful and do not make the right decisions.

The woods around Hackett’s Quarry Summer Camp are filled with mystery. The counselors face a deadly lycanthropic threat and must survive until help arrives in the morning. Players need to think before acting because even the most mundane actions, can have dire consequences. Luckily, for achievement hunters, even a bad decision can still lead to one of the game’s 40 trophies. After making a choice that will alter a path, players will see “Path Chosen” appear on the screen. There are 15 different paths and 186 unique endings in The Quarry, each reflecting decisions made throughout the game. Fortunately, the Hard Pass achievement can be earned by making the same choice repeatedly.

How To Unlock The Hard Pass Trophy In The Quarry

In The Quarry, players are put into situations similar to the counselors, where the right option is not always obvious. Throughout the game, users can receive two-part hints on how to act in future circumstances. First, players will find Tarot Cards that can be collected, which relate to specific situations in the story. In between each chapter, a fortune-teller named Eliza reads these cards and offers a glimpse at a future encounter. To earn the Hard Pass trophy, MOVE ON will need to be selected every time when given the option to receive help. Players must find one Tarot Card in each chapter of The Quarry for Eliza to offer a hint. The Hierophant is an exception and should not be collected in chapter nine, as this will initiate a special cutscene, eliminating Eliza’s help. Unfortunately, many players may be unable to earn the Hard Pass trophy at the moment, even after following these steps.

The Quarry’s Hard Pass Achievement Bug & Workaround

Currently, fans have been encountering a problem with the Hard Pass achievement. For an unknown reason, the trophy is bugged in patch 1.03, preventing users from fully completing the game. Recently, The Quarry‘s publisher 2K Games, posted a tweet that said they are aware of the issue and will fix it in the next post-launch update. Some players on the internet have been scrambling for a workaround to the problem. Owners of the disk version can reinstall the game and disable their internet connection, preventing the automatic update. This will allow the Hard Pass achievement in The Quarry to be earned on a previous build. Other users will, sadly, have to wait for the next patch.
