Tru Valentino is speaking out for the first time since her surprise exit from the ABC series Novice.
The actor, 35, shared a heartfelt message on his Instagram Stories on Friday, Aug. 9, about his time playing Officer Aaron Thorsen from Seasons 4-6 of the police drama series.
“I will always cherish my time on The Rookie, but I couldn’t be more excited for what the future holds,” Valentino wrote. “I love the friends and connections made while there.”
“It’s been such an amazing opportunity and I feel so lucky to have had the last 3 seasons,” he added, before thanking “the best fans in the world.”
“You never know who might come back to Mid-Wilshire Station,” he concluded, already teasing his character’s potential return. “Until then, 7 Adam 19, this is Officer Thorsen, done!”

Officer Thorsen was the TikTok famous son of a famous rapper who switched careers to become a police officer.
The actor did not explain why he left the show.

TV Line was the first to report that Valentino was leaving beginner, which premiered in 2018. On Thursday, August 8, the outlet reported that he will not be returning for the show’s upcoming seventh season.
Valentino made his series debut as a recurring character in the Season 4 episode titled “Five Minutes” and was later promoted to series regular for Noviceis the fifth and sixth season.

Starring Nathan Fillion as the titular rookie officer John Nolan, the drama follows Nolan as he continues his career as the oldest rookie to join the Los Angeles Police Department.
Valentino has recently lent his voice to several animated series, including Spidey and his amazing friends and The Croods: The Family Tree, and also recently starred in the original comedy Roku The Real Brothers of Simi Valley: The Movie.
In April 2024, before the sixth season finale, ABC announced that the procedural drama would be renewed for a seventh season. Deadline first broke the news, and Fillion later shared a statement on Instagram about the show’s upcoming season.

“It feels good to have a job,” he wrote at the time. “It’s even better to be able to be proud of that work. If you are among those who enjoy Novicewe owe you our gratitude.”

Release date for Novice season 7 has yet to be released.
